2011 Season - Pre Season Guide

We are just 2 weeks way from the 2011 BUMS NFL Fantasy Draft which will take place at BUMS HQ on Monday evening August 29th. The draft will be at 4pm and should be done by 7pm. It will be followed by some of Cheryl’s fine fare, possibly including Key Lime Pie and then the movie Friday Night Lights to whet our appetites for the upcoming season. No spoilers please, all are welcome. Attached is the player price spreadsheet including all the players 2010 scores & how much a Franchise player will cost you if he is cut by his current owner. Remember if you cut your franchise player you’ll have to pay him his signed salary for the rest of the season/two seasons. 11 former BUMS stars are missing from this year’s list including 4 BUMS Hall of Famers as Brett Favre, Carson Palmer, Clinton Portis, ‘Fast’ Willie Parker, Brian Westbrook, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Joey Galloway, Torry Holt and Alge Crumpler are all retired or unsigned. Big names who are available include QBs Eli Manning, Philip Rivers & Aaron Rodgers; RBs Matt Forte, Michael Turner & DeAngelo Williams and Receivers Larry Fitzgerald, Greg Jennings & Santonio Holmes as they have all ended their 2 year Franchise designation and become free agents. They are released onto the open market together with 22 rookies - see the rookie report attached. The player pool is based on the depth charts listed by Ourlads yesterday. So get planning and let me know how you are drafting if you cannot make it to HQ, email in advance or by phone or internet live. Draft Order and Franchise Players Exactly the same as last year John will have the first pick in the draft and Johnnie the final choice. The full draft order, budgets available & franchise players are attached. David S and Gareth will pick at the end of the 5th round as they have cut their 2011-12 Franchise men. In the annual re-naming, David S changes Les French Miserables to Wellington Windy BUMS prior to the Stamps exodus to New Zealand and Johnnie celebrates retaining the Papas Fritas Trophy by renaming the Binty Bombers as the very apt Sofa Wreckers. Trading DaysYou will have the usual two opportunities to make changes but due to the Rugby World Cup they are more delayed than previous years. Trading Day 1 is on Sunday 30th October before week 8’s games and Trading Day 2 will be on Sunday 4th December before week 13. Please get these dates in your diary. Hope you can make it to BUMS HQ for them. Season Kick-Off Game The first game of the season is a match-up of the last two Superbowl winners with the Saints @ the Packers. Sky should show the game live in the early hours of Friday September 9th and we’ll get together later that evening. Venue to be confirmed. See you on August 29th.
